What are Weight Loss Injections?

Semaglutide/Pyridoxine and Tirzepatide/Pyridoxine are prescription medications used primarily to help with weight management and to improve blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes, which mimics a hormone that helps regulate appetite and insulin. Combination with Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) helps with side effects.

How Does Weight Loss Injections Work?

Weight loss injectables work by stimulating the GLP-1 and GIP receptors in the body, which can help increase feelings of fullness, decrease appetite, and slow down gastric emptying. This can lead to reduced calorie intake and weight loss. For individuals with type 2 diabetes, it also helps regulate blood sugar levels by enhancing insulin secretion and reducing glucose production in the liver.

Who is a good candidate for Weight Loss Injections?

GLP-1 agonists are typically prescribed for individuals who are overweight or obese and have not been able to achieve significant weight loss through diet and exercise alone. It is also used for people with type 2 diabetes who need better blood sugar control. However, it may not be suitable for everyone, so it’s important to discuss your medical history and weight loss goals with Dr Glantsman before beginning treatment as well as monitor progress periodically.

What are the common side effects of Weight Loss Injectables?

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. These symptoms often improve as your body adjusts to the medication. In rare cases, more serious side effects such as pancreatitis or gallbladder issues can occur. Always report any unusual or severe symptoms to your healthcare provider.
